As early as the Neolithic era, humankind chose to carry unusual stones or a piece of wood as protection against enemies or evil spirits. Charm bracelets again found an audience at the end of World War II. Soldiers returning home from abroad brought trinkets made by local craftsmen to give their girlfriends. The charm displayed miniature replicas of notable places, like the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben. Stateside jewelers quickly caught the trend and began setting charms for all occasions. Within a decade, the bracelet is an essential accessory for girls and women. Gifts Charm bracelets became popular for 16th birthday, graduations, weddings and births of children. These links to a small personal story was much appreciated for their sentimental and material value.
More recently, the charms of Italy became the rage in the new millennium. Coming out of traditional jewelry pendants these bracelets snap into the bracelet instead of hanging him.
